Verbal Kung Fu for Freelancers - Puts You In Charge Of Your Clients

Review Date: January 28, 2009
Reviewer: Tammy D. Fink, Branson, MO USA
When I read Verbal Kung Fu for Freelancers, I couldn't believe how it really hit home with me. Several of the examples Jeremy used could have been my clients...and my experiences. I am an experienced designer, but I had no idea how to handle some of the specific situations that were covered in this book. But now I know...that sometimes it just takes a little Verbal Kung Fu...a bit of enlightenment, if you will. Sometimes it's not just what you say to a client, but how you say it that can make all of the difference. Whether you are just starting out in the freelance business, or have been at it a while, I would recommend keeping a copy of Verbal Kung Fu on hand. At some point in your career, you are going to need it.Verbal Kung Fu for Freelancers: Master the Art of Self Defense against Difficult Clients
Fantastic Resource for Freelance Designers

I purchased this book because negotiating with clients can be a full time job in itself. Tuber uses humor and common sense to relay simple and fair responses to our most dreaded client questions. He focuses on everyone (client and freelancer) coming out as the winner. Fairness and client education are key. What a fantastic resource for those of us who love to design but hate to haggle and negotiate, etc.
A must have for anyone that has trouble communicating effectively with clients

Just wanted to let you know that 48 hours after studying your products, I was able to get a client who usually takes weeks to get back to me to not only respond immediately, but enthusiastically. I successfully turned it into an upsell at the same time! I am definitely much more aware of how clearly my e-mails can be worded and used the techniques in VKFU and FGDZtH to help him transform from unsure about the upcoming project to enthusiastic. Now he wants to know what other bells and whistles are available for his project!
A MUST HAVE book for both beginner and seasoned freelanders

This is an absolutely amazing resource and reference guide. Jeremy lays out step by step how to stay in control under even the most stressing situations. Used two of the examples on the first day I received this book and they worked out perfectly. He really knows how to read and interpret both the freelancer and the client. Thank you, Jeremy!!!
