Kolab - Groupware for Emails & More
Kolab is a Groupware Solution for Emails, Appointments, Contacts and more. It supports mixed client environments (Outlook/KDE) because of an open storage format. Any email client speaking standard protocols can be served.

i checked out the Kolab site (i like the name), and it seems to have a client-server architecture. my thought was, for what possible reason would someone go for this architecture in the age of SAAS. aren’t SAAS applications far more flexible and offer the same level of functionality. For example, we use hyperoffice at my office, which offers Kolab’s functionality, plus many more features like intranets, docu management etc.
Hi Pankaj,
hyperoffice may offer much more features like Kolab. But i think you can´t compare them … one is a groupware system you can install on your server for free and the other costs “some money”.
very true thomas. but to be honest i feel more comfortable paying for my business tools. for one, i can always call up their service department and talk to someone when im having problems. Secondly, i can be a little more sure that they will not dissapear one fine morning!
