I just recently blogged and shouted about how I’ve designed new business cards for myself… but I can’t afford to get them printed right now.
So it would be good to actually have something to hand out to people other than something churned out of the home printer.
I am working on taking the dive on becoming a freelancer and I need something to hand out to all the different people I meet on a daily basis. Writing my number down on a piece of paper is not cutting it anymore. It doesn’t scream out CALL ME!
Because about a month after I got my old business cards, I got a new phone number, writing my new number on nicely designed cards isn’t really ideal solution.
I found out over the weekend that my Ideal of using a showcard as advertisement, buisiness card, and collectible does not work as an end all be all for an artist. Some people desperately want to have your business card and are agast at the lack of something that is both outdated in many ways, but still so standard. (something like my idea of using a VCR instead of Tivo) Thus I am looking for both a way to get out of my self dug hole, and explore this business card thing as a fresh medium of self indulgence.
So reasons to pick the poor artist:
1. The title states it poor artist (not starving yet though)
2. I picked the best time ever to start a career in selling items to the target market of disposable income
3. This will be possibly the most annoying and pathetic post here (I am actually aiming for both)
4. Take pity on me!
I want Business Cards because I have never had them before, What Will I do with them? Naturally, I would dress like a ninja and throw them at my clients foreheads as if they were ninja stars. I will “leave my mark” if you will.

So I’m 23… just graduated from college 6 months and 2 days ago… and have already been laid off. Tomorrow is my last day of work.
I’ve decided to brand myself, and make a living out of branding myself.
I need business cards to promote that brand and my efforts as a freelancer.
“Why not purchase said cards?”, you ask? Well, I live on my own, have a puppy to feed, and have juuuuust enough money to pay my rent for a few months.
Anyhow. I’m a cool chick, I believe in “paying it forward”, and you can guarantee that if I get 1000 free business cards, someone will get something helpful and great from me.

I need some business cards, because my old ones were printed cheaply and are embarrassing to hand out. I couldn’t afford t get a quality stock or fancy coating, so i settled. Now I am upset that I have cards that I don’t want to give to potential clients. And if I win, I will happily plug your links…

I would love to win these business cards because I currently work for a real estate magazine company as a graphic designer, and since the real estate market is down, the company is down-sizing. So if my name is called to leave this place, I’ll be ready to plunge into the freelance world.
I’ve been a freelance designer and programmer for over ten years while working for the “man” in corporate American. I’ve recently quit my job (much to the horror of my Wife and children) to start my own design/development/SEO business. I should have my new site up in a couple of days and was working on cards/flyers and brochures…
Obviously I would be using the cards to promote my new business around town and at the Chamber of Commerce functions. Winning these cards would really be a big help and also save me a few bucks to spend on Christmas presents. At the very least this post has pointed me to a more affordable printer than who I planned on going with, so thanks for that!

I would use these to promote the new blog we are launching. The blog will be a counterpoint to our current product’s site, and will look at the process of designing new products and features, and how to make newer technology accessible.
how can i expect to get business without business cards?!
Because I just moved to a new city/country and new to establish my identity and business here.
I should get these cards because my reason is not for business but for FUN! Appreciation! I love to appreciate others. One of my quirks and what my friends know me for is I always say “You ROCK!”
When I’m out and about and I receive excellent service, admire someone’s attitude or want to start a random conversation, I’ll give them the business card that will say “You ROCK!” and have some awesome graphic on it. I’ll try and blog about those experiences too.

i already have business socks so now i just need business cards to go with them

What would I do with them? I could be sensible or creative - the sensible thing would be to go to my local business trading estate(s) and give my card to every small company who may need my services, but you said be creative..
..My business cards would be double sided, one side being a colour photo with a motivational quote, my favourite being “It’s what you do with the time you are given that counts”, on the flip side would be my contact details, logo and a couple of lines about what I do..
..then I go to the nearest business convention, dress up like Einstein, and give everyone a card and a big cuddle!
I have had my own company for 6 years. It started out doing freelance because I left my job and wanted to take a chance. It has grown into a full marketing business. Just me and a friend that is the developer have now partnered to expand both our businesses. We offer low cost printing with our designs and I will surely look at you guys to do the printing. We have found that we can get a better product than printing local using businesses like you and still make a small profit. Use the cards, I would use the cards to promote my business and services in the area.
Well, the first thing that I thought about was… could I build a house with 1,000 business cards? But I thought, no it would just fall apart when it snowed - as I am sure we will get plenty of it… Then I thought I wonder if business cards make that really cool sound in the spokes of a bike tire like baseball cards - that could be cool I could sound like a Harley or maybe a group of Harleys… that would be sweet…
But I decided against those two options - I have been doing some freelance web and graphic design work and could use the cards to spread the word around town - actually I could probably give one to about every person in town if I had 1,000, well maybe not. I’ve had people ask me if I have cards, and I have not yet had a chance to get any. I have my design set, I just need the means to get them.

because i never had business cards and my biggest wish in the last weeks was to create one. why? because i need to share them with my students, friends and my clients. its allways better to promote your work and person with a card and be in their hands and so in their minds!
another reason is, i started a new webproject and it would be nice to make this public with the new webpresentation and rocking business cards.
