Accessible News Slider is a JavaScript plugin that makes possible for you to create grid of news items and “slideBy” them in a compact row with smart navigation sets. Brian Reindel has designed this Javascript plugin with high consideration of better accessibility to users with all kinds of limitation. It accomodates the need of:

* Users with color vision deficiency, or color blindness
* Users with limited or poor vision, but who do not use a screen reader
* Users that are legally blind, and who browse Web pages with a screen reader.
* Users that browse with the keyboard and an adaptive device such as a mouth stick.
* Users who have turned off JavaScript or CSS
* Users who have turned off images

Curently updated in December 29, 2008, with the v1.4 release, Accessible News Slider gets all:

* Tested jQuery Version v.1.2.6
* Cross browsers tested (Windows: IE 6+, FF 2+, Opera 9+, Safari 3+ | Mac)
* Unrestricted lisence. This script is free for both personal and commercial use.
* A slideBy option was added for developers to modify the CSS.
* The slider now works without images enabled.
* Skip links were reinserted so as to demonstrate the best possible placement.
* CSS, XHTML and JavaScript were all revamped completely, with two simple themes included.

The next version will develop a vertical scroll option. Stay tune for it and start the tour at Accessible News Slider site to learn more.
