1. Hi , who are you and what do you do?
My name is Svein Haakon Lia. I am a art director, senior designer and founding partner of Bleed designstudio. Bleed is a graphic design agency based in Oslo Norway, established June 2000 by individuals with background in graphic design, advertising and technology. Working to blur the borders between graphic design, art, technology and commercial brand identity.

2. Describe a typical day at work?
As all us mortals it starts with going through mails and rss feeds, getting a overview of what the day will bring. Then if everything is clicking, some creative work. Depending on where current projects are in process, individual or teamwork, making solutions, making them understandable, giving them some kind of life, then lunch and repeat.

3. What do you enjoy most about your work?
That feeling you get when you see your concept will actually work.

4. What do you like least about your job?
Routines eating time.

5. What is your worst enemy of creativity?
Stress, bad food and routine.

6. What do you do when you start a new project and you have NO ideas?
Put it in the back of my mind and go do something completly different.

7. What inspires you the most?
The moments in life when you stop and change direction.

8. Do you listen to music while working? And if “yes” what music do you listen to?
Yes. Everything from industrial noise to folk. Right now having a big love for Phosphorescent…

9. How do you deal with criticism?
Depend on the situation, but in general it is good to get a different view on things and I try to make the best of it. As long as the criticism is constructive off course.

10. What does your workspace look like?
Minimalist clutter, or just clutter?

11. Do you remember the very first web-project in which you were involved?
It was long ago, and I did not have internet in the studio I was working in at the time. A lot of guess work and a (over)confident programmer led to a pretty good site (we thought at the time) for some brand of drink.

12. Is there any advice you would give our readers?
Enjoy what you do, try to be open!

13. What has been the most fun project to work on so far?
I see Bleed as a project, and it is my favourite one so far.

14. Imagine yourself in 15 years… what do you see yourself doing?
Doing less, but better.
