1. Hi , who are you and what do you do?
My name is Xavier Encinas, I am a french print/branding art director living in Paris. Most of my clients are movie makers, art galleries, magazines editors… I also run the blog www.swisslegacy.com

2. Describe a typical day at work?
Look at the alarm, shut it down, sleep for 20 more min, wake up, shower, coffee, open the window, look at people in the street, grab my camera, leave, arrive at work, check my emails, check my RSS feed, check my facebook, check my flickr, check my linkedin, update my blog, start working, lunch, work, leave, metro, home, diner, listen to music, work, watch a DVD, sleep.

3. What do you enjoy most about your work?
Figure out everyday that I can do a better design than the other day. I never stop learning.

4. What do you like least about your job?
People who try not paying you.

5. What is your worst enemy of creativity?
Habits.

6. What do you do when you start a new project and you have NO ideas?
I think about all the things I’ve seen recently and could help me to find ideas.

7. What inspires you the most?
Line and shapes.

8. Do you listen to music while working? And if “yes” what music do you listen to?
Sometimes I do when I don’t need to be too concentred. So I listen to jazz, hip-hop, folk, electonic music.

9. How do you deal with criticism?
I will say the same as Antonio… When It’s a constructive critic I am very happy to hear it. For me the most in important is when you have a idea or a critic it’s important to explain it and fight for it. Sometimes people are right sometimes not…

10. What does your workspace look like?
It’s my leaving room for now:

11. Do you remember the very first web-project in which you were involved?
Haha…It’s a long time ago. I don’t design any websites anymore but I think my first website might be during high school. I was part of a jazz band and we needed a website. Since I was the “geek” one, I tried and I liked it.

12. Is there any advice you would give our readers?
Look at what others designers do, learn and try to understand what they do, then forget everything you’ve seen and try to find your own design.

13. What has been the most fun project to work on so far?
The poster I just released “Grotesque”. It was my first personal project.

14. Imagine yourself in 15 years… what do you see yourself doing?
I could run my own studio, be a professional photographer, run a bookshop/gallery…

15. Please tell us 3 people who we should do this Interview with (Why them?).
Mark Blamire : www.blanka.co.uk
Michael C. Place : www.wearebuild.com
