ShadowBox – a Smart Media Viewer

ShadowBox is a JavaScript media viewer application that supports all of the web’s most popular media publishing formats including images, QuickTime, Windows Media Player, Flash, Flash video, HTML, and even external web pages. In fact, you can customize the skin of Shadow Box with CSS.

Why ShadowBox?

* Here are several reasons to answer a question of why you must have ShadowBox:
* Standards HTML validation – It doesn’t depend on phony HTML attributes in your anchor tags to make it work.
* Adaptive to any platform – You’re not tied to a particular framework if you don’t want to be.
* Smart Plugin Detection – The plugin detection mechanism can avoid your users from confusing when they don’t have the plugins they need. Instead, Shadowbox displays a helpful link to download the missing software that will allow them to view your content properly.
* Browser friendly – Shadowbox will never overflow the viewport, showing those obnoxious scrollbars. Instead, it will automatically adjust to whatever size the client can handle.
* Supports configurable host of options – If you don’t like the way something works, you can just tweak it without digging through the code.
* Universal language – Your users will probably be able to interact with the application in their native tongue.
* Modular coding – You can build a streamlined version that contains only the features you need simply by using a custom build form.
* Unobtrusive – It uses HTML anchor elements to collect data about content to display. So if your client doesn’t have JavaScript enabled, ShadowBox will allow the user to follow the link normally.

Get the max advantage, as you can have a nice display of media in all major browsers without navigating users away from the main linking page.
