Hi Y'all,
right now I'm evaluating magento. There some arguments why I think that magento is a good choice for a professional web shop system:
- real Open Source Project, that is well supported and maintained
- very good shopping functionality
- Integration of a CMS-Module
- Multi-Store, Multi-Website and Multi-View Features - that is great even if I don't understand exactly where the differences are and it makes some Issues in the Admin-Area a bit complicated
- nice update and Plugin-Management via Mageno-Connect
- nice programming codex and structure
Sure, there are many other points, but I mentioned the important ones for me. And now the issues that I do not like so much:
- Only few free templates available
- Template-design is not that easy, because there are lots of templates in lots of folders and css and templates are separated in different folders
- Installing a new template for a new Website or View is not that easy
- The Admin-Area is sometimes difficult to handle (there is so much functionality, that I don't understand)
- some legal issues for german Online-Shops are missing in the standard Installation and have to be set up manually
Hi Detlev,
you grabbed the second one! You'll get a informational email too!
Congrats!
Rico and Thomas
